Aftercare for the first 48 hours

The first 24 to 48 hours after whitening are when your enamel is most receptive to color. Avoid coffee, tea, red wine, dark sodas, berries, tomato sauce, and curry. Stick with light-colored foods and drinks for two days.

Brush gently and use a sensitive-formula toothpaste if you notice any tooth-tingling. Most clients report little to no sensitivity, and any mild sensitivity typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours.

Brush and floss before your appointment. Whitening works best on clean enamel without surface plaque or food particles to block the gel. If you have sensitive teeth normally, switch to a sensitive-formula toothpaste for a few days before the appointment to lower baseline sensitivity.

Have a meal before you come. The 48-hour post-whitening diet means you will want to plan light-colored meals for two days. Eat anything you want before your appointment, then keep meals neutral until your aftercare window closes.
